Dark Wood Hitty-type is approximately a 6 1/4 wooden character doll that is jointed at her neck, shoulders and thighs by elastic cord. She is made of wood with a sweetly painted face, black hair, and black shoes. She was designed by Robert Raikes and made in China circa 2002-on.

Her back is initialed in black R. Hitty-type is wearing a lovely off-white cotton dress printed with blue hearts, a coordinating cotton bonnet, and a pair of pantaloons that have stretched at heir waistband.

Her outfit sustains light discoloration and dust from age and storage, and may need laundering. Robert Raikes' Dark Wood Hitty-type remains a lovely example of the ever popular Hitty doll inspired by Rachel Field's book. Online research shows that Dark Wood Hitty has also been called Magnolia and Annabelle. My photos detail her condition accurately.
