Joe Sam Mixed Media Black Cheyenne Listed African-American Artist
Interesting mixed media (acrylic, gouache, and collage) by noted African-American artist Joe Sam or JoeSam b. Sam has exhibited widely since the 1980s, including exhibitions at Joyce Gordon Gallery in Oakland, Museum of Afrcan-American Art in Los Angeles, Axis Gallery in San Francisco, Triton Museum of Art, and many others. He has also done numerous public art commissions. Sam's work is in numerous public collections. He is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. This mixed media on yellow paper of "Black Cheyenne" is likely from Sam's Black Indian Series. " It is signed lower right and measures 19.75" x 27.5 (paper size).
It is in good condition though with minor creasing and some areas of staining (possibly occurred during the art making process). In an inexpensive yellow frame with plexiglass (many scractches and abrasions). Please see my other auctions for more fine paintings and prints.
