Rare 16 1/2 Inch Tete Jumeau Mulotto Brown Complexion

Presented by SFBJ and Jumeau is a very lovely rare 16 1/2 Inch Tete Jumeau with Mulotto or Brown Complexion. In 1899, several French doll makers such as Adolphe Bouchet, Bru Jne et Cie. (Genty), Frédéric Remignard, Arthur Wertheimer and probably Henry Ulhenhuth & Cie. Formed or joined an alliance named SFBJ. Jumeau continued to make their same brand of dolls under the umbrella name of SFBJ, who is probably best known for their Bluette dolls (dollreference.

This gorgeous girl with brown complexion stands 16.5 inches tall with a bisque socket head on a 5 piece composition body with jointed arms and legs. She has beautiful brown paperweight stationary eyes, with painted dark eyelashes, eye outline and multistroke dark brown eyebrows.

She has an open mouth with soft reddish lips and bears 4 upper teeth. Her head retains her original cardboard pate with a long black curly mohair wig and she has pierced ears. She has a lovely brown complexion that complements her brown bisque head. This truly is a fine rare example of a mulotto Jumeau, be sure to grab her up as she wont be available very long!

Markings- Her head is marked - Tete Jumeau, S. Paris, 6 on the back of the head (incised). Dress: She wears a simple printed dress with light green and brown ornaments encased by zig zag checkers. Her neckline, sleeve cuffs and hemline are embroidered with tan and red scalloping.

A large cream collar surrounds her neckline. The dress is her original, which would be indicative of the late 1880's time period. She wears underneath her dress all original laced pantilooms and pleated slip, black cotton socks and little black leather shoes.

I did not redress her in a fancy frock as that would not be a true representation of a doll of her time. Condition- Generally excellent with minor wear. Her stringing is excellent as she holds a nice pose. Her bisque head is free of any cracks, hairlines or restorations. She has wear at her arm and leg joint lines as well as her feet, well expected for a doll atleast 120 years old.

Her right fingers have been touched up with paint, but her fingers are in excellent shape. There is a tiny wear at her left pierced ear lobe.
