Vintage GI Joe 1970 Adventure Team Black African American Adventurer
The African American Adventurer Figure dates from 1970, The uniform is in a very good clean condition, ready for display. The Adventure Team Uniform is Genuine Vintage Hasbro GI Joe and consists of the following items. 2 Pocket Tan Shirt with GI Joe (R) by Hasbro, Hong Kong.
Tan Trousers with two rear pocket flaps. The plastic GI Joe Adventure Team Dog Tag and bead chain are missing. The Vintage Original Hasbro GI Joe Outfit and accessories have a play worn patina, marks and scratches, as you would expect for something their age. The small toy plastic pistol looks like its missing a small piece from the hammer at the rear, but I could be wrong (see pictures). The boots have split seams at the rear which open up when the figures feet are placed in them, or removed from them.
The seams close up once the boots are fully on the figures feet. (the split seams do not show on display). The GI Joe is a Vintage Black Flocked Hair figure, with Hard Hands, which dates it to 1970 to 1973 period. The flocked hair is generally very good condition with no thinning or bald spots that I can see.
The eyebrows have minor paint rubs wear. The figure has several minor stress cracks that I can see, one small crack in each upper bicep, one small stress crack in the front and rear of each upper knee joint and one crack in the lower left forearm (see pictures). All the joint functions as they should and the Arms, Hands and Legs are securely held in place. The figure stands and poses on its own, and the figures joints are still reasonably tight. This is a Genuine 50 year old figure, which has been played with, so its not shop fresh, but it is an honest example of the late 1960s childrens toy which is now becoming collectible.
Black African American Adventure Team figures are very hard to find in decent condition these days, dont miss out on this one. Overall this is a very nice figure and outfit and will be a fine addition to anyones collection or a fine Stand Alone figure.
