1910s African American Soldiers Black Baseball Sports Team Nogales AZ Photo

Originally built during the Apache Wars, Fort Huachuca was repurposed to house the Buffalo Soldier 10th Cavalry supporting the 35th Regiment. This appears to be Troop C under Captain Roy V. The men are posed with six sports trophies, including baseball & basketball with a baseball on the ground. Fort Huachuca became known as the Black Soldiers Home in America w/ a complex network of installations including a baseball field, football field, basketball court & boxing ring so famous that Joe Louis would later train there.
