This is for an original third issue 1966 Gi Joe Negro African American Soldier. The stamping on the butt shows an "R" in a circle rather than the original TM which was stamped on second issue dolls. The dolls clothes have third issue markings on the tags which read "GI Joe TM By Hasbro Japan "R This could be one of the later 1966 models where they first used Caucasian flesh rivets or it could be a later version which used a third issue butt.

With all of the variations out there it's tough to tell. The doll is nice shape with a crack on his right hip, a crack on his left knee, and it looks like someone years ago could have stepped on his lower left leg leaving a crack in the plastic. Joe has been out in the battlefield for awhile and could use a face wash, but I didn't want to do it the wrong way and rub anything off by doing it wrong.

Just one tiny brown speck over his right ear is the only hair rub, and I don't think its even a rub, just a spot that was missed with black paint. He's missing his dog tags but comes with an original GI Joe backpack. As we all know now, those days are long gone.
