INTRIGUING 8 3/4 x 10 3/4(Outer measurements) frame containing a 100 year old photo of a black servant lady looking heavenward, and a youthful smiling lady beholding the standing woman. The servant's white dress has this penned notation: TO "NID" CLEUN?
WITH THE LOVE OF MARY GUILLEN TUCKER. So I Googled this name, and MARY TUCKER GUILLENs name came up; she was a speaker, author, and vocalist, popular during the 1920's if not longer. Yes, this is a true MYSTERY photo.
I couldn't find a photo of Guillen to compare with the sitting lady in the photo, but I'm sure that such pictures are out there. Look at the back: the brown paper seals the back, except some openings, which have let some dirt inside the unit, and are visible as dark specks in my pictures. Photo was framed in CHATTANOOGA, TENN.
This may be an important provenance tool. Frame has finish damage, but frame itself is solid.
