Listing is for an antique tobacco jar, figural bust of a black woman. Unmarked, unknown maker or origin. I did an on-line search and could not find this particular jar, many similar variations were found, the headscarf was always a different shape and the green stripes at a different angle. A few had earrings, which were also different. Most, if not all, of the variations were easy enough to find matching examples.

This jar's headscarf has light criss cross incised lines, basically unfeelable. The jar does have a few minor imperfections: The lid has an edge nick, see the 8th and 9th photo, also there is a tinish brownish spot that is under the glaze, also in the center there is a tiny paint rub. See the 6th & 7th photo of the jar's inner rim, which has a nick, and two tiny and tight cracks that may be factory flaws, hard to tell. Most of her lipstick has worn away.

I think the lipstick itself is cold painted. There are other areas with paint loss and scratches.

Stands approximately 4 1/2 tall to top of head with lid on. Outside of earring to outside of earring appears to be just under 4. See photos for more details. Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
