Mattel continues to use rubber bands and adhesives that deteriorate over the years, sometimes getting stuck in Barbie's hair or skin.

I recommend carefully removing the crumbling rubber bands from the hair with tweezers or fingers and brushing the hair if style permits. Adhesive on Barbie's skin can be easily removed with gentle use of a Magic Eraser and water. Tape or other packing residue can stain clothing, especially color transfer and this is usually permanent. I try to describe the most obvious imperfections but please keep in mind that these clothes are old (some over 50 years) and most have been played with. Some have minor staining, fraying, loose threads.
