For the past thirty years, Colescott has engaged themes of race, gender, and social inequality. His art is both highly charged and also intrinsically beautiful. In 1997, Colescott was the first African American painter to have a solo exhibit at the Venice Biennale in Italy. His work is in the permanent collections of many museums, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Oakland Museum. THIS MAY BE BY HIS BROTHER WARRINGTON COLESCOTT AFTER FURTHER REVIEW.
I acquired it near Seattle in an Estate Sale/Aucton as Robert but it could be Warrington. EITHER WAY it is an original and NOT lithograph or numbered serigraph so do not miss out on this original piece. To view my full range of products!
