THE EYE OF SHAMBA-The Art of Eugene Grigsby, Jr. A 65 year Retrospective Exhibition.
This is a scarce SC copy of the catalog for the exhibition of the same title, Oct 27, 2001-Jan 27, 2002 by the Phoenix Art Museum. A prolific artist in many mediums, he continued to create art up to his 90's. He was also heavily involved with community programs focused on uplifting lower socio-economic communities.
His work has been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Library of Congress and the Phoenix Art Museum. He taught at Arizona State University and formed the Consortium of Black Organizations for the Arts. According to Grigsby "a visual artist expresses himself/herself about human conditions, within a framework of design". We are a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
