Vintage Effanbee Virginia Austin Lucifer Marionette Puppet Black Americana 1930s. Excellent condition, Still sewn in the box. One box end is loose (please see the picture). This is a wonderful & seldom seen antique black marionette marked (c) Lucifer V. He was made in late 1930s early 1940s & designed by the famous puppeteer, Virginia Curtis Austin. A wonderful piece of authentic black Americana. Lucifer was one of the very first Effanbee puppets made for Marshall Field's stores..

Lucifer is one of the Clippo the Clown "Clippo Club" members, made by Curtis Crafts. Virginia Austin toured the USA after her vaudeville days giving puppet performances during the late 1930s through the 1950s.

She is best known for Clippo, and the Effanbee marionettes. Please see the pictures as they are part of the description of the items offered.
